James and the Giant Apple

Once upon a time, there lived James and his Mum and Dad. One day, his Mum and Dad went to the veggie shop and a rhinoceros ran out of the zoo and the people screamed. Then the rhinoceros ate James's Mum and Dad. Then James was worried because he had to live with his aunts. They were not nice. They had an apple tree but there was only one apple. It was growing. It was a very strange colour. It looked pink.

"Go away," said Aunt Emma, "this is our only apple, so don't touch it!" Then it started to grow. James saw an enormous hole so he went through it. He realised that he was inside the apple. He saw some creatures around him. He got frightened and tried to run away but he couldn't. He got so frightened that he fainted. The creatures came to help him and found that he was still alive. The creatures said,

"It's OK, we are nice."

James asked,

"Do you live in this apple?"

"Yes, we do live in the apple," replied the creatures.

"But what do you eat?"

"What about the apple?" asked James.

"We can't eat this apple," they said, "we live in it!"

Then someone pushed the apple and it rolled down the hill and over a cliff. They landed in the water. James said,

"We're sinking!"

Then James had an idea. He said,

"I think we can do it!"

"Well, come on James, come on!" they said.

"It is okay then. Does anyone have string?"

"Of course we have string!" said the spider.

"Okay then, see the flock of seagulls?"

"Yes"

"All we need is a spider to make the string for us. Then we can tie it to the stem of the apple and to the seagulls. Worm, see the flock of seagulls?"

"Yes," said the worm.

"They are coming towards you because you are a juicy worm!" said James, "Now spider, use your string. Tie it to the stalk and then to the seagulls. Look, we're floating up now! We will float away!"

"What if we fall?" asked the spider.

"There are a million seagulls, of course we will not drop!" said James. "It is going to rain so we'd better get inside and have something to eat."

Then it stopped raining so they climbed back up to the top of the apple. Then it was windy so they went back inside. A little later, they went outside again and found that it was sunny. So they had some food and it was night time. They went to sleep. When they woke up the next morning, they were on land. They had swimming clothes inside the apple and some beach games.
