Butterflies

 

Description:

Butterflies have compound eyes. They have six legs, two eyes and three parts of their body.

 

The Butterfly Life Cycle:

The female lays pale eggs on different types of plants. The eggs hatch into caterpillars and, like the adults, these are very brightly coloured. They have yellow and black streaks. The baby caterpillars eat and eat. The caterpillars' skin then splits a couple of times. The caterpillar becomes a chrysalis After several months a new butterfly comes out!

Food:

A butterfly mostly feeds on nectar from flowers.

Predators:

Bats, cats, people and spiders.

Habitat:

A butterfly lives in trees or flowers and shelters under leaves when it rains.
