June and her partner, Helmut were wonderful hosts and they made us feel most welcome. A highlight of our trip was a morning spent on a whale-watching cruise. I had never seen a whale in the wild before so it was a wonderful experience as we sailed out of Merimbula in search of these majestic creatures. How exciting it was when we actually saw some!
Later in the holidays, Barbara returned home and Satoshi came down from Sydney where he had been participating in the National Clubs Gymnastics Championships. Satoshi's team came fourth overall with first, second and third placings in some events. He and I stayed a few days at the Pambula Beach Caravan Park. Unfortunately, Satoshi was not very well during this time but we still had an enjoyable time.
A long time friend, Olive Williams, turned 90 during the year and I was privileged to be invited to the celebration at the Royal Victorian Motor Yacht Club rooms in Williamstown. It was a fitting tribute to Olive and a time to catch up with many people who I had not seen for a number of years from my years at St.Mary's Chadstone.
